Circles the Caribbean Set sail with ArtStart, the Science Museum of Minnesota &
SteppingStone Theatre as we circle our way around the warm
Caribbean Sea. On our science expedition we will dive down to
investigate the deep sea trenches, underwater archaeology and salt
water inhabitants. Imagine the beach front art studio where you will
create a soft sculpture of a beautiful coral reef creature.
Make a whimsical headpiece that rivals the flutter and glitter of tropical
fish. Finally close your eyes and see before you the variety of drums used
in the Caribbean. Your membranophone master will teach your hands to
bring the voices out of drums made from recycled materials.

Book your flight today to the fascinating and beautiful countries of India and Indonesia! ArtStart invites you to participate in an exciting exploration of two diverse, yet similar cultures led by the artists of ArtStart.
Designed for children pre-K through grade 6, ArtStart's Summer Interdisciplinary Arts program offers youth the opportunity to immerse themselves in the arts, cultures, and natural wonders of these two southeast Asian cultures. This unique program blends multiple disciplines - art, music, dance, drama environment, and culture - and provides children with a quality arts experience in which they work with professional artists, some from the culture, and arts educators.

June 22-26, 2009The Signatures program, begun in 2006, for youth ages 13 years (or entering grade 7) to 16 years old has evolved from a studio-based art program into an arts mentorship program.
The expanded 2009 program offers youth intensive experience in four career strands in the visual arts:
personal art making
arts education
public art
retail/business.
In each component of the program youth work side-by-side with professional artists or educators to develop their own unique artistic "signature".

A Start With the Arts meets daily and offers 3-5 year-olds the opportunity for self-expression through singing, movement, drama, and art making.
Activities are designed to heighten each child's imagination while providing knowledge about India and Indonesia through a cultural and artistic lens.
