About the Concert: The Children’s Concert is a spirited, interactive concert for families who love to dance, act, listen and perform to beautiful music performed by musicians of the Saint Paul Civic Symphony. Led by artists from ArtStart, the concert features the audience as actors and dancers using art and movement sequences created during the pre-concert activities.

The 2023 Annual Children’s Concert opens with a parade of tiger masks and other art made by families in the 2:00pm  pre-concert activities inspired by the concert repertoire. Young and old alike get into the spirit of the concert through these fun art and creative movement activities. This year’s concert features an original composition by composer Jan Gilbert based on the Hmong folktale  “Nine-in-One, Grrr, Grrr!” The piece showcases qeej performers and Hmong folkdancers, as well as art work based on the folktale.

The art activities and concert are free and open to all.
